Die phantasievoll-grotesken Kunstwerke des Bremer Künstlers Kinki Texas waren im Mai 2007 am Rande Europas zu bestaunen, bei den 22. Tagen der Gegenwartskunst im ostpolnischen Bialystok. Zeitgleich trafen sich an diesem europäischen Außenposten NGOs aus den Partnerstädten Danzig, Riga und Bremen um sich über ihre internationalen Kulturprojekte auszutauschen und gemeinsame Pläne zu hecken. Bei allem mit dabei: der Bremer Verein agitPolska – Polnisch-Deutsche Initiative für Kulturkooperation e.V.

Kinki Texas bei den 22. Tagen der Gegenwartskunst in Bialystok Vom 18. bis 27. Mai waren die Arbeiten des Bremer Künstlers Kinki Texas bei den 22. Tagen der Gegenwartskunst in Bialystok, einem renommierten Kunst- und Kulturfestival, zu sehen. Kinki Texas alias Holger Meyer lebt und arbeitet als freier Künstler in Bremen. Jede seiner Arbeiten bildet einen in sich geschlossenen, von Zombies, Cowboys, Comic-Figuren und Fabelwesen bewohnten, Mikrokosmos, in dem diese skurrilen Gestalten sich zwischen Trash und Glamour bewegen. Kinki Texas Schwerpunkt liegt auf Zeichnungen, außerdem waren seine 3D-Animationen in Bialystok zu sehen sein. Neben Kinki Texas stellten bei dem Festival berühmte Künstler wie Leon Tarasewicz aus, der erst kürzlich in der Kunsthalle Lübeck mit einer Retrospektive zu sehen war. Neben Kunst gab es auf dem Festival aber auch Film und (Performance)Theater zu entdecken – u.a. das erstaunliche Teatr Biuro Podrózy, welches das Bremer LA STRADA-Festival im August 2007 eröffnen wird.

NGO-Workshop mit agitPolska „Am Rande Europas“ Zeitgleich traf sich der Bremer Verein agitPolska in Bialystok mit NGOs aus Riga und Danzig zum Workshop „Am Rande Europas“. Das trinationale Treffen der partnerstädtischen Kulturinstitutionen- und Vereine setzte sich die Erarbeitung gemeinsamer Strategien im Kulturbereich und einen Erfahrungsaustausch über die Arbeit im non-governmental Sektor zum Ziel. Auf der Tagesordnung stand auch die Planung neuer gemeinsamer Projekte und Kulturevents. Gerade mit den neuen Mitgliedern der EU ist es sinnvoll, sich über gemeinsame Kulturprojekte näher kennen zu lernen und zu verständigen. Das Treffen war ein voller Erfolg.
